My first meeting with Carrie was over lunch at my favorite little restaurant. While she wasn’t engaged yet, they had already started to work with Timuquana for a 2018 wedding that needed to happen sooner rather than later. The reason, Clinton, her fiance, was in the military and in order to move with him when he got stationed, they needed to make it official!
This actually isn’t such a strange occurrence because I have had many Brides book me before they have a ring on their finger.
True story, I actually booked my own wedding venue prior to Nick proposing! We knew we wanted to get married on a Saturday that was also the 13th. The only one coming up was in November! So – we had a date, we knew we wanted forever, and so I booked Club Continental! He proposed a few weeks later.
Because of Carrie and Clint’s unique love story, I thought it would be nice to actually hear it from her! So, I conducted a little interview with the Newlywed to help me share with you what makes them every so special.
From Carrie:
Clint and I met on a blind date set up by our Moms! Our Moms had known each other from highschool schemed up a plan to introduce us. It worked! We joke that it was an arranged marriage.
Once the day is finally here, the last thing you want to be thinking about is the flow of the day. That being said, don’t sweat the small stuff/ let the planner do that. Remember what the day is really for. The rain, the cake, the guests, the transportation, the late night snack won’t change the fact that at the end of the day you will officially be husband and wife. That’s what matters.

I had grown up about a mile from the venue and I went there for various events growing up. I knew if I was going to have a big wedding, I wanted my guest to see the beauty of the St. Johns River and Jacksonville. Timuquana Country Club is right on the water and it has the most incredible view of downtown Jacksonville. It also was large enough to comfortably host the number of guests we invited.
The best part of the big day was the first look. The morning of the wedding, I was so nervous and anxious. Once I saw Clint, all the worries just melted away. It reaffirmed for me that this day was about marrying this incredible man and Adair would take care of the rest. It was really fun to be able to share in the joy of the day before the guests arrived and things got crazy. I am a traditionalist so I was not a fan of the first look idea but I am so grateful for that time we shared together. And we both still teared up when I walked down the aisle.
One of my other favorite parts of the day was our exit. I knew I wanted to do something different for this. Adair and I spent a lot of the planning processing thinking of how we could put personal and unique twists on the entire day. We left on a boat! Clint and I love being on the water and it was another way to showcase the view from Timquana. Personal touches really make the day special for the bride and groom and the guest.
