Tell us about your company:
Rose of Sharon has been creating floral designs for weddings, events and all life
occasions for 28 years. We are a family owned business that give special attention to
details and provide excellent and professional customer service. Our goal is to exceed
the expectations of our clients, which we have been successful at for over 2 decades.
How did you get into wedding florals?
From our first year in business, we have been designing wedding floral décor. When we opened our shop, one of our goals was to work with brides and create their visions for their weddings and receptions. Over the past 28 years, we have seen many changes in the trends of our brides. With the addition of pinterest, blogs and the internet, our brides have access to many ideas and visuals which help her to form her vision and for us to create the floral designs that she loves.
What is your favorite part about being a florist?
There are so many aspects of this business that I love, that it is difficult to single out one.
However, I believe seeing the faces of brides when they see their bouquet, reception or
ceremony site completely decorated, is one of my favorites. When seeing their reaction,
and I know that my staff and I have created their vision is one of the most rewarding
parts of being a florist. There are many others – meeting brides and clients for the first
time, working with them and putting their vision together. But, in the end, the final
product and reaction are what I truly love.
What is your favorite flower and why?
Interesting question, as I have so many flowers that I love. But, if I have to narrow it
down, I would say a peony. To watch a small bud unfold into fluffy, layered petals is
truly amazing. And, the fragrance is delicious – and such a wide range of colors.
What are your favorite trends when it comes to wedding flowers?
With the introduction of Pinterest, it is amazing to see all of the wedding trends. I love
the Gatsby, romantic look with the candle light glow. Creating that vision is one of my
favorites. But, I love the challenge of a modern, chic wedding with clean design lines as
well. I would say that creating a design that I have not created before is challenging and
gets my creative juices flowing. Each trend embodies the bride and her special day —
