Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

My name is Cassandra (Cassie) Cherneski and I am the owner of Flaire Weddings and Events, a planning company that  has served Northeast Florida since 2005. We work with brides who are looking to have a stress-free planning experience, access to expert advice and design guidance.

How did you get into wedding planning?
I’ve had an entrepreneurial streak my whole life. I always knew I would start a business of some sort, but once I assisted several friends with their weddings and then had my own, I had caught the wedding bug. I devoured everything I could learn about planning and coordinating weddings, and when a friend from church heard about my new venture, she hired me to plan her sister’s intimate wedding in just under 3 weeks. From there, Flaire Weddings & Events was born

To DIY or not to DIY?
I am not completely against DIY, as long as the projects you take on are manageable. I think we all have goals and things we’d love to accomplish, but realistically may not have time to hand letter 200 place cards and then dip them in glittered glue in the few weeks leading up to the event. If you do choose to DIY, I recommend taking on small, manageable projects that you can space out throughout your planning. Anything that must be completed the week of the wedding should be left to a professional to help save your sanity 🙂

Do you have a favorite story from a Planning Process or any surprises at a Wedding that stands out?
In the almost 9 years that I’ve been in business, I’ve assisted more than 100 brides and grooms with their events so I have lots of favorites, but some of the sweetest moments are when the groom surprises the bride at the reception with something, be it a decor piece she was really wanting but thought she couldn’t afford, a horse-and-carriage get-away vehicle, or a song he wrote and recorded for the bride. There’s something so adorably sweet about a well-planned surprise. 


Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?
I am ready to see brides leave behind the candy buffets. There are lots of fun “food” bars that you can create – whether it be a pie bar, an ice cream sundae bar, or even a make-your-own-trail-mix bar. Whatever you choose should be something that is meaningful to you, not just a cute idea from Pinterest or a blog. I am also loving the trend of having an “estate table” for the bride, groom, wedding party and family. It’s more than just a head table – it’s a large table that is the focal point of the room and can be a place where you can really go all-out, decor wise to produce a stunning effect. It also allows the bride and groom to be surrounded by their nearest and dearest at their wedding dinner.


What should the Brides look forward to hearing you speak on at The Dairing Bride Academy?
I’ll be sharing about key ways to keep the design of your event focused, cohesive and original. I’ll help you think about making sure the various design elements (florals, linens, lighting, paper goods, etc) all tie together and present a unified look. I’ll also chat about the differences between a wedding designer, wedding planner, and wedding coordinator and help you figure out if you need the services of one or more of them!
